How To Install Sram Gx Cassette

Hi,

I recently bought my wife the beneath cycle which uses Sram NX 11-42 gearing as an upgrade from a 3x9 gear up.

She likes the wheel in full general aside from the gearing which she says is lacking in the top finish and she feels freewheels also early on gentle declines and flats. I ride the same trails with a Sram GX ten-42 and am happy my gear ratio and then could I only buy a GX cassette to transpose onto her cycle to give her a amend range?

Would I need to change all of the other gear components or would just the cassette practise it? Also is information technology an easy task? I've assembled a YT bike before but not done any in depth maintenance.

Thanks in advance for your assist!

A cassette would do, even so, the Sram NX 11-42 is a "Shimano" mode freehub, while the Sram GX cassette utilizes the Sram XD driver freehub. In order for y'all to switch your GX onto your wife's bike, you need to convert her Shimano fashion on the wheels into an XD driver (if the hub allows it)

Another choice for amend range would exist to purchase the Shimano XT 11-46T cassette, and bump up the front Chainring size (e.g. 30T to 32T, or 32T to 34T, depending on fettle level of form). Go on in listen, you may need a longer chain too going this route.

Easiest/cheapest option is just to size upward the front chainring and forget nearly the cassette (until its worn out).

As sdken said, you may demand a longer concatenation. You tin simply scab in a link past using an extra quick link (equally a inexpensive/easy choice)

What size front chainring is she using now? 11-42 is a nice range for many. I use it with a 32T front. If her fitness is skilful, effort a 34T front.

A proficient, cheap option is to expect at the Box Components 11-46 Cassette (less than $100) with a larger chainring. The cassette has better gearing than the Shimano 11-46 and will fit on her electric current freehub.

not cheaper than a chain ring ($thirty) , and won't amend the acme end gearing. Neglect

Ok, wiseass, to retain the depression end and increase the peak finish both a larger chainring and rear cog are required. Do they not teach physics in Canada?

Na, my Estimate is...they but teach dissimilar math in ur office of murica....

Just Seriously? How is 130$ cheaper than xxx? And how does more depression end range solve the problem?

Let's not be dicks about this, I am asking this question honestly. I don't have a clue most physics bro, but I go gear ratios and dollars... Just break information technology downward for me.

Thanks
